length. A smaller project might take a couple hours, while a larger project can take years – as with the BMO Centre Expansion at the Calgary Stampede ground where, Spencer says, they installed “just about every single piece of heavy equipment.” “That was the biggest project in Calgary in the last four years,” he explains. “We installed all the electrical gear— transformers, switchgear, generators – all the big, heavy stuff. We installed the air handlers, chillers, boilers, exchangers, pumps, etc. We installed every escalator in that building, and BMO has some of the largest escalators in Western Canada. We also did a bunch of work directly for the general contractor. We were on that site for a long time. We’re very proud of that project.” As another example of their work, Spencer shared that they recently relocated a large manufacturing facility in Calgary. The manufacturer had constructed a new facility in Calgary’s SE Industrial Park, and Prime Movers was hired to manage the relocation of equipment from their old location to the new one. Partnering with Prism Industrial Services, Prime Movers took full control of the project. This included everything from the initial equipment layout, decommissioning, and dismantling, to handling all pneumatic and hydraulic disconnects, equipment movement, transportation, and final unloading, setting, and commissioning. The team worked around the clock with 15 members over several weeks to ensure the project’s success. It was a great achievement, and without the collaboration with Prism Industrial Services, they might have hesitated to take on such a complex task THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
