The Construction Source

Designer – Axios Photography – Axios experience with his last employer. He says that most of the projects he ended up project managing were design-build projects, and most of the time he started with a blank page. As a result of that experience, he’s developed an aptitude for being creative and solving technical challenges. “Most of my clients started in the same place,” he explains. “They had an asset they wanted to build. They didn’t have a team of people put together. They didn’t have any engineers. They didn’t have an architect. They didn’t have any consultants. They would just come to me and say, ‘This is the asset I want to build, or this is the building that I want to build, but I don’t know what to do from here. Can you play leader of it all?’” “So I was used to basically starting from nothing, then just inventing something and getting it approved with the owners and with the clients all along the way,” he continues. “I just got used to having to figure it all out from day one.” Of course, Brant also got used to delivering to a high standard of quality. That’s another reason he believes architects and owners like working with Axios today – “because we are focused on hitting the quality that they are looking for.” Part of achieving that quality, Brant says, is the quality of their supervision. He explains that they have a dedicated project manager and a dedicated project coordinator on every project, as well as a site supervisor who is there at all times. Even more importantly, he says they are very selective about the subcontractors that they work with “They need to share our vision,” he explains. JANUARY 2025
