The Construction Source

In recent years, Redline’s output has been diverse, both in terms of typology and geography. He has started a 68 unit condo project in Alberta, bought and rezoned land in Westmount area in Edmonton. purchased and renovated a hotel on Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, he did a flip project in Fernie, BC, and he’s now involved in an eight-building mid term rental project south of the border in Reno, Nevada. These days, he is focused on working closer to home – the company’s current projects include a luxury single-family home on an acreage property in Sherwood Park, along with two eight-plex rental buildings located close to the University of Alberta. No matter where the company is working, or what kind of project they are working on, Cory believes what sets Redline apart is their quality. Everything the company builds, he says, is built to “condo spec.” That quality starts with material selection. On the multi-unit rental side, their buildings include hard surface countertops, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and high-end appliances – “all the quality stuff that’s built to last.” “We don’t want to build something that we’re going to have to fix or replace in a year or two,” Cory says. “We want to build something that lasts, so we make sure we use high quality materials.” They also use high quality subcontractors – and they earn the loyalty of those subcontractors by communicating with them clearly and paying them promptly. As a result of that approach, Redline has forged some relationships with subcontractors and consultants that have lasted many years. “The subcontractors that we use are knowledgeable and they know what they’re doing,” Cory says. “We don’t have to hold their hand or come after them. They understand that they need to get things 100 per cent right. The ones who don’t understand that, we don’t work with them again. The ones that do, we keep using them.” FEBRUARY 2025
