“We want to expand geographically,” Andrew agrees. “Ultimately, we want to be all over Canada. Right now, we’re in Ontario and Alberta primarily, but also we want to be able to do everything everywhere, essentially, which means being in all the geographies and doing all the services.” “So sprinkler systems, alarms, extinguishers, kitchen systems, kind of the whole gamut,” he continues. “We want to be able to design them, to install them, and then to service them once they’ve been installed. That’s the goal. And we’re on the path to being able to do all that already. We’re getting there through both organic growth and acquisitions.” When it comes to new builds, Superior Sprinkler these days works primarily in the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. Their projects can range greatly in terms of size and value – on one project they may take care of 100 square feet under one roof, while on another project they could tackle four million square feet in multiple buildings on the same site. Their projects can also range in terms of typology – they do a lot of warehouses, for example, and they also do a lot of cold storage, which requires a totally different type of system. “There are lots of different types of sprinkler systems that you can have, and they all need different designs and expertise,” Andrew explains. “We have all that expertise in-house.” According to Gary, that depth of expertise is one of Superior Sprinkler’s main points of differentiation. He says they have developed that expertise the old-fashioned way, through OCTOBER 2024
