same time, he says they also want to keep creating their own opportunities. As previously mentioned, the company also does land development under Bella Terra Investments. To date, they have developed single family homes, but they are now looking to do some smaller “cluster homes.” “As you know, home affordability is an issue in Greater Vancouver,” Tony says. So we’re going to try to diversify our portfolio, not in terms of quality, just in terms of size. We can make some of these cluster homes smaller and maybe more attractive for different buyers. That’s really encouraging because it gives us an entry into a different market that we’ve not been involved in before.” Lastly, no matter what kind of homes they are building, Tony hopes Christen Luxury Homes remains a family enterprise. Since the inception of the business, Tony and Patricia have kept their family front-of-mind – the company name is evidence of that – and Tony says that working so closely with his children now is incredibly gratifying. “I’m really proud of what we’ve done, and I’m proud that my family is involved,” he concludes. “I’m also proud that we didn’t push the kids into wanting to be part of the business. I think they just grew into liking it naturally. From a father’s perspective, that’s very, very rewarding.” OCTOBER 2024
