He says it helps that he and his family are on-site very often, and that Steven is on-site fulltime, but he says even that wouldn’t matter if they didn’t have the right partners, and he believes they do. “We’ve been in business for many years and we have established longstanding relationships with our suppliers and sub-contractors” he says. “Without those relationships, it would be very difficult, and they play a key part to our success.” Christina adds that it also helps that they are vertically integrated and take care of both the construction and design under one roof. Because of that, it allows the entire Christen Homes team to be hands-on throughout the process and have more touchpoints with their trades and suppliers, fostering strong relationships. Tony says these relationships tend to be very longstanding – when they find subtrades they trust and can rely on to deliver quality, they tend to stick with them for the long haul. “We’re very fortunate that we have subtrades who have been with us for a number of years,” he says. “They know what we expect from them and they know what to expect from us. They know we’re going to be really fussy about the details, that we’re going to make sure that everything is executed right, that there’s not a nail or a screw out of place. That’s how we’ve built the business, that’s what differentiates us, and they respect that. In return, we show them respect and loyalty.” OCTOBER 2024
