Another point of difference for clients, Dan believes, is BAT Constructions’ experience and expertise. Again, he says that experience enables them to take on even the most complex and challenging of projects. “We take on some of the most challenging project you can do,” he explains. “The projects that many other companies don’t have the resources to take on, those are the types of projects we successfully complete repeatedly. BAT has a reputation for that.” Because they have that reputation, Dan says they have historically had to do “very minimal” advertising. They are doing a little more now than they have in the past, but mostly their work comes from repeat clients. The company has long-term relationships with mining clients, rail clients, and even hydroelectric clients. As Dan already mentioned, most of those relationships go back years, and some even go back decades. Dan further credits that loyalty to at least one more important factor, which is the company’s innovative streak – in particular, he says they have the ability to manufacture and build their own specialized equipment to solve specific challenges. “We manufacture our own specialized horizontal drain hole drilling rigs,” he explains. “We have our own proprietary design for doing horizontal drains and working in mines to relieve pore pressure which causes instabilities in the pit walls. We’ve built four of those drills and they are all actively working in mines throughout the province currently.” “We make other specialized equipment, too,” he adds. “We innovative and create different solutions for problems that we end up encountering on jobs. We’ll build implements or attachments for excavators to access specific hard-to-reach areas, for example. If we have a unique project that requires a bit of creative thinking or innovation to get it done, then we’ll figure it out. We’ll adapt to the needs of the project.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
