The Construction Source

Island, which is a cool little historical village on the northwest coast. That community suffered from a wildfire a few years back, and now some of the houses are at risk from rocks falling from the mountainside, and a nearby stream is at risk of being impacted by severe debris flows. To mitigate that risk, BAT Construction is there installing a rockfall attenuator and an in-stream debris flow net. “We perform this technical type of work in pristine environments and take pride with ensuring all environmental impacts are mitigated and we leave the area as pristine as we came into it,” Dan says. According to Dan, clients like that tend to choose BAT Construction for a variety of reasons, but one of the main reasons is their commitment to safety. He believes they have “led the industry,” in that area, and that “all throughout our operations, there is no higher priority.” As evidence of that, he cites their good standing with the Association of Geohazard Professionals. That association offers an annual Rope Access Safety Recognition Program, which recognizes companies that develop and implement safe rope access work procedures, provide education and training to their personnel, and commit to enhancing the safety culture within their organizations. BAT Construction has been recognized by that program multiple years in a row. “Our commitment to high safety standards, continual development and training of our personnel, has resulted in working relationships with our clients that have lasted years, and sometimes decades,” Dan says. “We are proud of our safety record and find it is the best policy to bring each and every one of our workers home safely every night and provide a cost-effective service to our clients.” OCTOBER 2024
