“We had to find all the products and blend it into the old building in order to make it look like it’s been there for the same amount of time,” Kent explains. “I think we did pretty good job at it, and everyone seems to like it.” Moving forward, Kent says the company would love the opportunity to take on more commercial projects like that one, though they expert their main focus to always be residential. Specifically, they expect their focus to remain residential renovations. “Everyone asks us if we want to get into new builds, but as of right now, I believe our plan is to continue with renovations,” Kent says. “To be honest, we like the niche that we’re in right now. We’ll do a lot of decks in the summertime. We do a lot of interior renovations in the wintertime months such as kitchens and bathrooms, just to try to stay outside in the summer and inside during the cold. And we’ll also do kitchens and bathrooms throughout the winter months. That mix is working for us.” Kent does envision the company growing, however, both in Fredericton and beyond. He says the goal is to add a couple more crews locally while also adding some crews elsewhere in Atlantic Canada. Very recently, for example, they expanded into Halifax, Nova Scotia. “We’ve been planning that probably for the better part of the year and that’s finally here,” he says. “That’s exciting. We’d love to grow in Halifax just like we’ve grown in Fredericton.” In terms of how much room they have to grow, Kent says, “I don’t think we want to limit ourselves, to be honest.” For now, he says the goal is to add a couple more crews in Fredericton and at least one more in Halifax, “and I think if we can do that, we’d be pretty happy – but that’s not to say we wouldn’t want to grow more.” “If there’s an opportunity to grow more, we want to seize that opportunity,” he concludes. “That’s basically our vision for the future. We like where we are at now, but if we think growth is achievable, then we would definitely at least like to try.” NOVEMBER 2024
