NOVEMBER 2024 Cam has personally been in the electrical industry for almost 20 years, having started at a young age. He earned his Red Seal ticket working for one of the larger Manitoba companies, but he knew he wouldn’t be content working for someone else forever, so he started advertising his personal services and doing some work on the side. Soon enough, the business started rolling in. In order to keep up with demand, he officially incorporated Camco Electric in 2011. “We’ve had positive growth every single year since,” Cam says. “We have yet to have a year where we’ve been stagnant on growth or dwindled down. Every single year has seen positive growth.” Camco Electric started with just Cam and two other employees. They started off doing residential bathrooms and basements and electrical service upgrades. As the years progressed, they added “one or two more employees here and there,” Cam says, and now they’re a team of nearly 40. And as their team has grown, so has the scope of their work – in addition to doing residential work, they now also work in commercial and industrial settings, with their bigger projects valued as high as $5 million. At the same time, they will also do smaller projects – according to Cam, they’ll take a $250 service call, because that call could lead to a relationship that might lead to a bigger project down the line. “Everything we do is part of a bigger picture,” Cam says. “We’re big on building relationships. The way we look at it is every call we miss is potentially a home run that we’re missing. So we answer every single call and we always try to knock it out of the park, because we want to build that lasting
