In her time at S.A.M. (Management) Inc., January has seen the organization change and evolve considerably - particularly in terms of their strategy. They have shifted focus and intend to help more people find and secure long-term, quality housing. This means taking a more active role in property development than they had in the past. In conjunction with one of their partners, S.A.M (Properties) Holdings Inc., construction is set to begin on a mixed market and affordable multi-unit building on Beaumont Street that will comprise over 130 residential units with both commercial and provincial daycare spaces. Moving forward, they are working on development of more projects with a similar size and scope. The plan is to build more mixed-use projects, with commercial space on the ground floor and residential units above. When completed in its entirety, the project will add approximately 433 much needed residential units to Winnipeg’s housing market. S.A.M. (Management) Inc. is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the communities they are developing in, putting significant efforts into the research and planning phases of their projects. They’re focused on what is currently happening in the community and what improvements could bring the biggest positive impact. They want to ensure the project is done right – and they’re not just listening to the opinion of developers of similar projects. Holding community and stakeholder meetings, actively pursuing solicitation of community feedback, and implementing their own knowledge of property operations has been a big part of the planning phase.
