Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, S.A.M. (Management) Inc. is a non-profit organization managing housing for single persons, families, and senior citizens. Their founding vision is to provide quality housing that’s affordable and safe, and to manage in a way that ensures tenants have the opportunity to enjoy their homes and develop a strong sense of community. In order to achieve that vision, they provide a full spectrum of management services, including asset management, applications monitoring, fiscal management, building maintenance, secretarial services, and capital project administration. For over 50 years, S.A.M. (Management) Inc. has grown to manage over 1,200 affordable housing and non-profit residential units. Their diverse portfolio consists of a unique combination of direct managed properties, management of properties for third-party developments, and non-profit life lease property management. In recent years, they have done some rethinking and restructuring of their organization - moving forward they intend to develop more of their own properties. Helping lead that charge is January Melillo, Director of Housing and Properties, who joined the organization in 2021. Prior to joining S.A.M. (Management) Inc., January was employed in various roles with the Manitoba Housing Authority for nearly twelve years. In those roles, she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of building development, maintenance, and management. At S.A.M. (Management) Inc., she saw an opportunity to implement some new ideas, and felt driven to lead the kind of positive impact she wanted to see. MAY 2024
