PUBLIC WORKS – STEEL BUILDINGS In 2022 and 2023, the Southwest and Midwest Design & Construction teams built fire halls in MacKenzie, British Columbia, and Brocket, Alberta – with the District of MacKenzie as the owner of the former project, and the Piikani Nations as the owner of the latter. MacKenzie Fire Hall – MacKenzie B.C. Both buildings served the same purpose, though they are two very differing and unique designs and styles. The MacKenzie Fire Hall is a new modernized facility that is a combination of steel and wood framing, post and beam construction with massive glulam beams that have been specifically curved to match the architect’s design. The Piikani Nations fire hall is a nine thousand square foot pre-engineered modern structure that was designed by Sahari Architects Inc., Calgary Alberta. This fire hall features two drivethrough bays, office space, a hose tower, large mezzanine, and the exterior is finished with white and blue insulated metal panels. MAY 2024
