called Southwest Steel Products Ltd., and they continued with the same platform that made Midwest Steel successful in Medicine Hat. Success came quickly to the Lethbridge operations by focusing on agriculture, commercial, and industrial steel buildings. Between 2007 and 2013 growth once again was on Fred’s mind, and the decision was made to expand throughout Alberta. In 2007, Southwest Steel expanded to Grande Prairie while Midwest Steel expanded to Calgary in 2009. In 2013, further expansion occurred when Nappaq Design & Construction was founded in Inuvik, NWT. Nappaq was created in partnership with IDC (Inuvialuit Development Corporation) to expand into Northern Canada. In June 2013, Fred decided to rebrand both companies and they became Southwest Design & Construction Ltd. and Midwest Design & Construction Ltd. Both companies provided the same valued service to their customers. The purpose of rebranding was that the new name better reflected where the company was going into the future and the names expressed the full range of services that were being provided. Fred, at this time, also became the sole owner and sole partner with IDC for Nappaq Design & Construction Ltd. In 2023, Southwest Design & Construction Ltd, Midwest Design & Construction Ltd, and Nappaq Design & Construction Ltd. all consolidated to fall under the new name of SWMW Group Ltd. This consolidation was executed in order to expand the capabilities of the companies, and to spur their growth moving forward. In addition, it also gave SWMW Group the ability to take on larger projects as a general contractor. THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
