Kyle explains that they’ve also honed efficiencies and procedures over the years that help them be cost competitive and attractive to clients. Use of cutting-edge technology like hydraulic rock breaking equipment facilitated their work on the Big Dig in Kingston which, according to Kyle is known as the Limestone City, with “rock everywhere.” Having the ability to rebuild the hammers on the equipment in-house is also a plus. Following their success of the first phase of the Big Dig, Len Corcoran Excavating simultaneously took on a similar project in downtown Belleville. The company was able to successfully perform both large projects during consecutive years. Kyle spearheaded the successful tender submission for that project and its subsequent phases, and acted as the senior site superintendent and project manager, responsible for the project success.
