A Business is Born Before he started his own business, Len Corcoran was operating a bulldozer for an excavating company just north of Kingston by day and driving a race car on the local circuit at night. He pulled in about $35 a week with his excavating work and that much and more with the racing gig. With the money he made racing cars, Len was able to break free from his employer, buy his own bulldozer and begin a venture that has since seen continued growth through the decades. In its early days, the company did simple projects for area homeowners and farmers. By the 1970s and into the early 1980s, LCE was working on large scale residential and commercial developments. By the time Len transitioned out of the business and Dan took a leadership role, the firm had moved almost exclusively into the municipal world, while maintaining a significant presence in the large-scale landscaping market.
