us.” “So it was one of our biggest challenges to date, but that’s what really excited us about it,” Philip says. “That’s what made it fun.” Moving forward, inspired by their success on that project, Ivy Studio is interested in doing some more residential projects – but they have to be the right residential projects. “I wouldn’t say we’re aiming to get into really big multi-residential complexes with 300-plus units, but I think this is a scale that’s really interesting to us,” he adds. “At this scale, I think we can be pretty creative. I think we can do projects that are bit more special, that stand out from other multi-residential projects in the city. If there are any Montreal developers out there interested in that – developers who want to do something a bit out of the ordinary, who want to spend a bit more money to create an interesting building and make the neighbourhood a bit more interesting – we would love for them to think of us.” In the future, Ivy Studio is also interested in doing more work along the lines of their MR-63 project. One of the things they like about it is the public nature – “we like being part of something that a lot of people are going to experience,” Philip explains. “Residential projects are really just oriented towards one person’s experience, or one family’s experience,” he says. “We’re not opposed to doing those projects, but we’re probably going to put more of a focus on the more public spaces, which aim to affect more individuals.
