“Regardless of the awards, we always feel a great sense of pride when a job is done and we can stand back and see what we’ve achieved – but when we’re recognized with an award, that’s just icing on the cake.” The 2022 award-winning projects include Run Ragged (award winning), On The Boardwalk (nomination), The Gallery House (nomination), and The Sheds of Charlotte County (nomination). All four of those projects were designed by Acre Architects, an acclaimed design firm led by partners Monica Adair and Stephen Kopp. According to Matthew, the relationship between Rivir and Acre is so strong that “we almost always have one or two Acre builds on the go at any given time.” “The very first project we did together was such an amazing experience, and the relationship has been really great ever since,” Matthew says. “If anything, the relationship has actually only gotten better over time.” Rivir and Acre’s 2022 award winning collaboration, called ‘Run Ragged,’ is a net-zero-ready home nestled along the Wolastoq River in Saint John. It was meticulously designed and crafted to facilitate outdoor living in all weather conditions. ‘On the Boardwalk,’ meanwhile is a commercial project. A café and wine bar situated on the banks of the Saint John River. The building “harmoniously blends fine wood craftsmanship with modern warmth,” Matthew says.
