Lopez Contracting is a company comprised of an eclectic and passionate team of artisans, based in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. They call themselves a “one-stop shop,” which is an oft-used term, but in their case it’s extremely appropriate. Over the years, they have continuously grown their team, expanded their skillsets, and extended their capabilities. These days, they provide clients with a myriad of high-end specialty building services – all delivered by a diverse team of industry experts who thrive in a “perfect combination of practicality, skill, and creativity.” “At Lopez Contracting Ltd, we are driven by twin commitments: to support our local Vancouver Island network as much as possible, and to be completely self-sufficient as a workshop,” says Matthew Lopez, founder and general manager of the company. “Our workshop hosts a vast array of facilities, true to our vision of a one-stop shop, wherein we can service any construction project from start to finish.” Matthew is a veteran craftsman who has been working as a carpenter for many years, ever since he was 17 years old – though he also has a lot of experience in other fields, including teaching and videography. In 2016, he decided to leverage all his various skills and form his own company, which he called Lopez Contracting. From the start of the company, his vision was to contribute to the creation of structures that were aestheticallypleasing, reliable, and affordable. All three qualities have long been important to him. “Some years ago, I innately understood that a building structure should have three important attributes,” he says. “First, it should be structurally sound. Second, it should be aesthetically pleasing. Third, it should be attainable or affordable. Ever since, I have strived to make everything I do worthy of this triple-crown of excellence.” JUNE 2024
