testament to their personal approach, but it’s also necessarily a testament to the company’s quality – after all, customers wouldn’t keep coming back if they weren’t satisfied with the workmanship. “We have some really experienced guys in the field, and they document everything they do thoroughly,” Bernhard explains. “Quality really comes down to following standard protocols, and that’s what we do. We like to make good use of our time on site, obviously, but at the end of the day we understand everything has to be installed correctly, and we take the time to make sure that happens. That’s a testament to our project managers and our guys in the field, all of whom take a lot of pride in their work.” On average, Wiebe’s Steel Structures employs a team of between 30 and 40 people, depending on the season. In order to attract and retain the right team members – people with experience, who take pride in what they do – the company works hard to keep morale high in the workplace. They do that in a variety of ways. For example, they host annual work events where they can connect with employees personally, and they closely monitor industry standards to ensure their pay and benefits are competitive. They also provide room for professional development and they give employees opportunities’ to grow along with the company. “Whenever possible, we want to allow people to grow with the company and come up through the ranks,” Bernhard says. The company also enjoys close-knit relationships with their suppliers and vendors. “Once we find a good vendor – someone who has a good product, and who provides the right service to go with it – we keep working with them,” Bernhard says. One of the company’s most important partners, for example, is Ironmen Industries, which is a specialty steel manufacturing company based in Winkler, Manitoba. Much like Wiebe’s Steel Structures, Ironmen Industries is a company comprised of experienced and skilled craftsmen who use only premium material to build products that are both durable and efficient. Also like Wiebe’s, they strive to build long-lasting relationships with their clients. They do that by providing precision workmanship, speedy delivery times, and by working closely with clients in order to gain a deep understanding of their structural steel needs.
