on his first spec house, built on Bonney Road in Nauwigewauk, just down the road from where Bill lived. The following year, Bill and Marilyn married, and Marilyn came on board the company to do the office work – which back then included “typing the contracts on an old-fashioned typewriter,” she recalls, “and the accounts payable and receivable I did manually.” Since those early years, Bonney Construction has built numerous residential homes in Hampton, Quispamsis, Rothesay, Saint John, Grand Bay, Millidgeville, Sussex, Lake Utopia, and St. Stephen. They have also built garden homes in Rothesay and Saint John and numerous garden homes in their subdivision in Hampton, Pleasant View Estates. Over the years, the company has also built some commercial buildings. Their first commercial job was at a police station in St. Andrews in 1981. They have also done a commercial building in Fredericton, a 35-unit apartment in Saint John, several 20-unit apartments, and a 12unit deluxe condo in Hampton. They have also done some public sector work – including post office renovations in Hampton, Grand Bay, and Norton, and fire stations in Quispamsis, Jemseg, Cumberland Bay, Long Reach, and their hometown of Nauwigewauk. Additionally, in recent years, Bonney Construction has done several projects in the senior living sector. A few years ago, for example, they were hired to subcontract work on the Shannex senior residences in Quispamsis and the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex. Finally, Bonney Construction has taken on unique projects throughout their history.
