Red Seal certification in carpentry, which was quickly followed by his certificate in Construction Engineering Technologies. However, due to his father’s early retirement, Todd found himself as a leader by necessity. As he “always loved working with his hands and a good challenge,” this was nothing he couldn’t tackle. In the years since, Best Builders has remained a small but highly efficient company that takes on roughly four to five projects a year. Geographically, they primarily service customers in Vancouver and the surrounding area, including White Rock, Surrey, and Delta. In his tenure at the helm of the company, Todd has seen his team win a long list of awards. In 2022, for example, Best Builders won ‘Residential Renovator of the Year’ at both the Georgie Awards and the Grand HAVAN Awards, as awarded by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) and the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN), respectively. More recently, in 2023, the company won multiple awards for a home restoration project they called ‘Triadic’ – including a HAVAN Award for ‘Best Environment Initiative’ and a BC Housing Award for ‘Excellence in Housing Solutions.’ Todd says that he values that industry recognition, but there are other things he values higher – “what’s more important to us is that our projects have made our clients’ lives better, and given them the space they need to entertain, grow their families, pursue their hobbies, or stay in a beloved neighbourhood.” And although his “heart and soul isn’t into the awards,” Todd admits that “there are projects that you are proud of, projects where you overcame great adversity.
