In-house testing “We are one of the few small ready-mix companies that has our own testing facilities in house,” says Fred. “We have invested a significant amount of money to be able to test our own product.” This saves time and allows Duracon to produce a better quality product. “We do our own compression tests, and we have a stateof-the-art super air meter,” says Fred. Last year he added a chaplain abrasion tester. “We are constantly trying new products to keep up with new advances,” he says, noting some products have performed better on the printed page than they do in the real world. This attention to quality over price has fueled the company’s steady growth. Duracon started eight years ago with two trucks.
