Whatever our client needs from us, we want to be able to do it. There are a lot of opportunities and we want to seize them. And we don’t mind taking risks along the way – without risk, there’s no reward.” Lastly, no matter how big the company gets, Nelson intends for CJ’s Express to remain familyowned and family-powered. His father, for example, is still a big part of the business at 73 years old with still coming to the office on a daily basis. “He’s still coming in every day, putting things together, fixing tools, making deliveries,” Nelson says. “He’s a big part of why we are where we are today.” “We have a lot of other family members working in the business,” he adds. “From my sister on dispatch, to my nephew as a plumbing apprentice, my aunt taking care of all payables , to my brotherin-law as our service manager, we’re all active in the business. We’re not only making a dollar together, we’re growing together. We want to keep growing together. I think our family is always going to be at the heart of what we do.” JUNE 2024
