always checking our email. Anytime there’s a phone call or an email and we have to go, we’ll go. We’ll always answer the phone, we’ll always show up, and the client will always get 100 per cent out of us.” As a result of that dedication, CJ’s Express has been able to build some very strong and long-lasting relationships with their clients. Like Nelson says, they have to bid on most of their jobs, but they have a lot of clients who they have worked with many times over the years, and they specifically invite CJ’s Express to bid on their current tenders. For example, they have been working with Canada Post for over 20 years, they have been working with RE/MAX Canada for almost as long, and they have relationships with many local developers and contractors that started when Nelson took over the company back in 2013. “There are a lot of clients who still want the best price, but they trust us and want us to do their jobs,” Nelson says. “They know they can count on us and we’ll make it happen, as long as it’s feasible for everyone involved.” CJ’s Express also enjoys longstanding relationships with their supply partners. Some of those relationships, Nelson says, go back over 25 years. A lot of them even predate Nelson. “We have a lot of really great relationships with our suppliers,” he says. “That’s very important to me. I don’t want to chop and change. I want to keep things simple. I want to work with highquality suppliers who stand behind their products. I don’t want to worry about products failing a few years from now. I’m trying to build long-term relationships with my clients, and I can’t do that without the help of my suppliers.” One of the company’s most significant suppliers, for example, is Wolseley Canada – the country’s leading wholesale distributor to plumbing, HVAC/R, waterworks and industrial markets. Wolseley Canada is a part of Ferguson, which is the world’s largest trade distributor of plumbing and heat products, and within Canada they have hundreds of branches spanning coast to coast. In May, they actually opened up a new branch, showroom, and market distribution centre in Brampton, which uses robotic automation technology and offers 24-hour pick-up and 60-minute delivery across the Greater Toronto Area. CJ’s Express already relied on Wolseley Canada for their service, product knowledge, and product availability, and that new nearby location has made them even more reliable.
