Geographically, CJ’s Express now works throughout Ontario – “anywhere from Bradford to Niagara Falls to Windsor,” Nelson says – and their projects can range in value anywhere from a few thousand dollars to $16 million. According to Nelson, CJ’s Express stands out in that niche primarily due to their cost-effectiveness. “Like almost all contractors, we usually have to give the client a price,” he explains. “We do get some jobs where the client comes to us and says ‘We want you to do the job, go ahead and do it and give us the bill when you’re done.’” Fortunately, CJ’s Express’ prices are typically very competitive, as their team are experts in what they do, so they know how to price jobs accurately and they know how to value-engineer cost savings along the way. The company also has a fabrication shop in-house, which helps with costs. Similarly, if they have a deadline, the team at CJ’s Express will do what it takes to meet that deadline. Nelson credits that reliability partly to the company’s manpower – if the company need to bring in a few more people to get a job done quicker, they have the ability to do that.
