The Construction Source

civiliti is particularly aware of the crucial role played by its contractors. The firm also values the collaborative process, which involves numerous professionals, among them architects, civil and hydraulic engineers, wayfinding experts, graphic and industrial designers, as well as biologists, environmental experts, and artisans. Thanks to this professional network, civiliti hopes to continue delivering projects, small and large, that positively impact Montreal’s public realm. “Montreal is always going to be our main focus,” Peter says. “Montreal is where we live, and it is the city we want to help build. Now, after 20 years, we just might be interested in expanding our territory. We are not looking for huge projects, but should the right opportunity come up, I believe we are ready for intervening in other cities.” The firm’s name is quietly spreading thanks in part to publications such as the book Contemporary Landscape Architecture (Braun Publishing AG), scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2024. The Swiss publishers chose to include one of civiliti’s smaller, poetic projects, the Franciscan Commemorative Park, downtown Montreal. Who knows where this might lead? “In the meantime,” concludes Peter, “we’re very lucky to be doing the work we do. We feel like we’re contributing to the city, which is the most important thing for us and our team. We are going to keep designing projects that make sense for us and which everyone is happy about.” JULY 2024 civiliti team (2023), Place Simon-Valois, Montreal - Photo: ©Donald Robitaille/OSA
