Communal construction The communal focus and nature of Grand River Modular operates under the guidance of Indigenous ways of knowing. Grand River Modular is Female Indigenous-owned and led, with mentorship from elders and Indigenous leaders in the community. That difference is reflected in their unique corporate culture: “We’ve gone about things differently,” says Gene. “Everyone has an equal voice, and authority is based on proven experience in the scope or topic under discussion. From collaboration with architects to boots on the ground, we’re striving to model the longeststanding system of working together with one another and the land. That’s why our model is so successful. We have the full knowledge of the architect and the carpenter facilitated in our meetings and correspondence, so no one party is left unheard.” Grand River Modular runs off JULY 2024
