Everyone’s favourite Currently, Johnston Builders is working on a number of exciting projects in Alberta and British Columbia. In Airdrie, for example, they have a 55,000 square foot shop/office/data centre project ongoing, as well as several more projects for the same client. In the northernmost areas of BC, meanwhile, the company is nearing completion on a 28,700-square-foot First Nations youth community centre. According to James, that project has been exciting for a number of reasons, including the “very positive” community engagement, the geothermal heating and cooling technology, and the fact that it was constructed from 860 logs that were harvested locally. “I think our team has done an excellent job on embracing the community and living our core values,” James says Elsewhere in Western Canada, Johnston Builders is active in other sectors. Other current projects include preconstruction on a resort in the Kootenays in BC, a new office building for the City of Whitehorse in the Yukon, as well as a new gymnastics and JULY 2024
