She also helps with the design and finishes for tenant improvements, specializing in restaurants and professional office spaces. Though the company employs residential specialists like Nichole, Justin admits most of their work is commercial and institutional. They build a lot of commercial retail spaces, for example, as well facilities for manufacturers and oil and gas companies. In recent years, they have also worked with some larger general contractors on a number of school projects – Justin estimates they have handled the full concrete and earthwork scopes for at least seven recent school projects. According to Justin, the company’s diversity is one of their greatest strengths. He says “we have a very diverse crew with a lot of experience in a lot of different areas,” and he believes that’s why most clients choose them – because they can take care of everything in-house. “It just makes sense for clients to choose us, because we can take care of everything for them,” Justin says. ‘Just makes sense’ is now actually the company’s sort-of-slogan; it’s what Justin says the company name stands for. That wasn’t something Justin came up with, however. He gives the full credit to his clients, who kept using the phrase on his behalf. “When I started the company, JMS was just my initials, it just meant Justin Matthew Staffen,” he explains. “But over the years, it’s kind of morphed THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
