Jesse and Josh, for their part, grew up raised on a farm. There they learned from an early age that “there is pretty much nothing you can’t fix or figure out.” “Growing up on a farm, you have to know how to be a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and a ‘MacGyver’ at fixing things,” Josh says. “You’re taught that you have to problem solve on your own, no one else is going to come bail you out. That’s a big part of what drives us as a family. There’s no giving up with us. We have the mentality that ‘there’s nothing you can’t do.’” Both Josh and Jesse have worked at the family business on-and-off since they were kids. Josh recalls being 13 years old and being taken to job sites all summer long. He now has at more than 20 years’ experience in the business, while Jesse has been there for more than 18 years. Their father Jim, who remains a background partner in the business, has at least 50 years of experience behind him. Now at V2R the tradition continues with the 3rd generation of family members serving their apprenticeship in pursuit of red seal certifications.
