Motivated to grow Over the years, Paul estimates that Westrade Construction has worked with approximately 180 subtrades of various disciplines, including drywallers, painters, mechanical contractors, flooring contractors, and masonry contractors. On every project, they always ask at least three trades for prices – partly to keep them honest, but mostly so they can compare them and make sure they’re all in the same ballpark, and that a trade hasn’t made a potentially costly mistake and come in way too low – but within that framework they are very loyal. Some of their trades they have been working with for about 30 years now. “We always have trades coming and knocking on our door, and we’ll give them an opportunity, but if they don’t perform or they don’t reply in time, they’re out,” Paul explains. “The trades who do perform, we work with them over and over again.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
