Westrade Construction has been providing general contracting and project management services to Ottawa and the surrounding area since 1985. Prior to forming Westrade, he studied business at Algonquin College. When he started the company in 1985, his vision was pretty simple – “basically, I wanted to sustain a comfortable lifestyle,” he recalls. “I never thought I’d grow the company to what it is now,” he says. “I was somewhat naïve in the beginning.” At first, Westrade started out as a subcontractor for a single property management company, doing general maintenance on their residential units – when the units were vacant, they did some painting and repainting, some kitchen and bathroom remodels, some carpeting, they sanded the floors, et cetera. That company was interested in hiring Paul on directly to be their project manager, but he preferred the freedom of AUGUST 2024
