Thomas Fairbrother believes a company is only as good as its people. He and his team of professionals – who have over 25 years of combined experience in construction of custom high-end, high performance homes – have the skills that ensure the homes they build meet the high standards that set Fairbrother Homes apart in the single family and duplex construction market. Thomas partnered with Stan Kajzerek and Stan’s son Simon in 2018 because he recognized that they had the same shared values. The timing was also good. “Prior to 2018 I spent most of life running a retail business in equipment sales and service,” says Thomas. “I wanted a change but I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Stan had built numerous luxury homes in the past and his son, who has worked in construction with his Father for many years, was interested too, so I sold my retail business and partnered with Stan and his son Simon to start Fairbrother Homes.” At the time, Thomas was open to building anything that came their way, as long as the budget made sense. He initially chose to focus on the Vancouver market specifically because the city had just started allowing duplexes, and he saw that as a growth market. To date, duplexes have been the company’s primary focus. Their goal is to eventually build more custom singlefamily homes for clients, but Thomas says they have some time to get there: “We’re fairly new as a company and we will be working on our track record for a few years,” he says. “We have been focusing on speculation homes – mostly duplexes – we build for ourselves and resell.” Being straightforward with his clients is what Thomas feels sets Fairbrother Construction apart from the competition. “We are upfront about AUGUST 2024
