The roots of Highrise Glass go back to 1990, when Jerzy first established a window installation company in Ontario. They started with small curtain walls, store fronts, and skylights, and then eventually progressed into larger and more complicated projects. Ultimately, they ended up focusing on mid-rise and high-rise buildings. In time, they expanded their operations to British Columbia and Alberta in Canada as well as Washington, Oregon, and California in the United States. When Jerzy first moved from Ontario to British Columbia, he says the market for high-rises was very active – “even during downturns,” he says, “there were always a few towers on the go.” The company started off doing one or two towers per year, but their capacity steadily evolved over time to the point where they could take on as many as 10 towers at once. Today, Highrise Glass employs about 60 people, and they take on mid-rise and high-rise projects ranging in size from six storeys all the way to 64 storeys – the 64-storey tower being Two Gilmore Place, the aforementioned soon-to-be tallest tower in B.C. They have also been involved in other recent landmark projects, including three towers at The Amazing Brentwood (a world-class master-planned community in Burnaby) and four towers at the City of Lougheed (another visionary master-planned community, also in Burnaby.)
