of the Yellowknife Dene First Nation, Fiona Blondin, Vice President, Indigenous Strategy, finds Cormorant a very exciting place to work. “We are an innovator in the sector through our strategic partnerships and through our core investment in the good people that we have,” she says. “We’re going to continue that investment. We’re going to invest in the long term for the sector in Ontario.” “Cormorant is uniquely positioned as a company as an entity that has deep roots in Ontario, through our subsidiaries and under our amalgamation,” says Fiona. “Being Ontario-based is the core strength of who we are, and our investment in the region and the projects we build in Ontario and nationally.” Fiona’s three and half years with such a diversified company with such a core strength as Cormorant has been a highlight of her career. “The investment under Damian’s leadership fostered a culture for people to develop, grow and contribute to what is a family-sized company and a family environment,” she says. Cormorant has a core office staff of 80, but depending on the size and volume of a project, that can go up to 200-to-300 people. “We’re a midtier player in the marketplace. Our focus is not on volume. It’s on the quality of services driven by the innovation and quality of our people,” says Damian. In recent years, Cormorant has also focused heavily on forming partnerships with key First Nations partners.
