staff, we’ve started to lose that personal touch, and we’re not interested in that. We want to form personal connections with our clients and we want to maintain our quality. We never want our quality to suffer.” As for the kind of work they want to do, Kendall says that both she and Sheldon have “always loved a challenge.” “That’s why renovations are really good for us,” she explains. “As renovators, we have to be able to tie our projects into older structures. When we’re working with an old home – like that home from the 1960s we won an award for – we have to do foundation engineering to figure out what it can sustain. There are problems to solve. That doesn’t scare us – in fact, it excites us.” “We love it when we have to think through something,” she adds. “When a homeowner has a problem that we’ve never seen before, we love telling them, ‘We may not know now, but we’re going to help you through it and we’re going to figure it out together.’ Then when we get to the end of the project and we look back and remember how challenging it was – that’s the icing on the cake for us.
