positive – not only from their clients, but also from other industry stakeholders, including local architects and general contractors. “It’s a public space where an architect or a GC can bring a client,” Ally explains. “We can serve as an extension of their business and offer their clients design recommendations along with our supplied and installed millwork.” Moving forward, Decorrestore’s goal is to do more work with general contractors. They believe their service offering – including their kitchen design services, their cabinetmaking capabilities, onsite carpenters and painters and the use of their Design Centre – makes them a strong fit for those kinds of partners. Again, Ally cites Pineview as a good example of how they approach those partnerships and how fruitful they can be. She says those are the kind of projects they want to do more of. “We believe that’s a strong area for growth,” she explains. “A key area of focus for us right now is on building relationships with GCs who focus on large highend custom projects. That’s a market we think we’re wellsuited for. We have the quality in terms of our product line and installers, we have the design refinement with our designers, and we have the nimbleness with our cabinetmaking shop.” Decorrestore is also looking to expand geographically. To date, they have worked primarily in the Greater Hamilton Area, where they are based – and that’s been a strong market, as Hamilton is an older city and consequently has some homes in need of refreshing. There has also been a surge of people moving in from Toronto driving some incremental renovation demand. “The Greater Hamilton Area has been a terrific market for us,” Ally says. “Now we’re looking to expand more into the Oakville-Mississauga markets. We already service these areas, but we don’t yet have the same foothold we have in Hamilton. We believe there’s a lot of opportunity, so we’re considering building a third location in Oakville in order to better serve the area.” MAY 2023
