Unlike conventional steel structures, CMB’s hybrid structures require no field cutting, fitting, or welding – instead, each structural member is precision cut and drilled for bolts and cables with factory welded clips to enable straightforward assembly. According to Justin, the typical lead time for a hybrid structure is only six-toeight weeks. The theoretical downside is the weight of the structural members, but Justin doesn’t see that as that significant: “While more metal buildings are getting lighter in weight, we do things a little differently,” he explains. “We don’t believe having a lightweight frame is the solution to lower costs. Instead, we’ve designed our buildings in a way that is different from any others, allowing for significantly increased interior area, less material needed, rapid orderto-install time, and overall increased strength of the building.” Though hybrid structures may be CMB’s most popular offering, the company also offers a variety of ready-to-go metal buildings. Justin expects those projects to comprise a growing percentage of the company’s portfolio in the future. He explains that they are able to be cost-competitive in that market because they do everything under one roof – their salespeople deal directly with clients, and they do their JUNE 2023
