Making an impact Trillium Housing’s first project was a townhouse complex in west Toronto called ‘The Loop.’ There, Trillium teamed up with VanMar Developments to deliver 62 two-and-threebedroom units – 25 of which offered Trillium mortgages, with eight going to single-parentled families. They finished that project roughly two years ago, “and from my point of view, we had great success,” Joe says. “The average income of our homebuyers was only $66,000. I don’t think you could buy a house two years ago in Toronto with a family income below $100,000. So we were housing families that were close to being on the RGI list for the City of Toronto. The average Trillium mortgage at that project was saving the family about $500 per month in their housing cost.” Trillium’s second project took place in Hamilton, where they teamed up with New Horizon Development Group to develop JUNE 2023
