Shift Accessibility Contractors started off doing any accessible project they could get their hands on, including grab bar installs and individual ramps. From there, the company’s reputation grew quickly, as did the size and scale of their projects. Today, they still do those small-scale projects when they can fit them in, but they mainly do major home renovations and additions – a lot of their projects now involve retrofitting elevators into homes, which is always a significant undertaking. That was a “big stepping stone for us,” Griffin explains, because it also opened a door to the consulting industry – which is something they now do a fair bit of, even though it’s not their chief focus or even something they really advertise. “At the end of the day, our main goal is to make homes and businesses more accessible and inclusive for all people,” Griffin says. “If we can achieve that through consulting, if we can help people just with our knowledge, then that’s definitely something we’re willing to do.” Mostly, however, the company achieves that goal through contracting.
