The Construction Source

Keeping it personal About two years ago, Grizzly Ridge Developments built their own three-bay 7,200-squarefoot-shop with office space above, which is their largest project to date. Two of those bays they rent to other companies, while they use middle bay as a pseudo-showroom for clients. Moving forward, Dustin hopes to be able to leverage that experience and do some larger projects for clients, maybe even some commercial clients – but at the same time, he doesn’t necessarily want his company to get larger. “We’ve done more volume in the past, but at the end of the day I don’t find that that enjoyable,” he says. “And when I looked at the financials afterward, it doesn’t even necessarily make sense. We worked harder, we put in more hours, but we didn’t really make more money.” “So we’ve adjusted and we’re at a comfortable spot right now,” he adds. “I could potentially see us doing a maximum of 12 homes per year, and that would require us to grow a little bit, but I don’t strive to ever build 40 or 50 or 100 houses per year. That’s not AUGUST 2023
