“We have a team of dedicated and experienced professionals capable of handling the biggest and the smallest of properties,” says Maia Bensoussan, the company’s director of operations. “No matter the size of the property, our goal is to create a sense of community. We provide an extra level of customer service to make sure that happens.” Wilkar Property Management’s team is led by Michael Wilk, the company’s founder and president. Prior to starting his own business, Michael was working as a project manager for an IT consulting firm specializing in software implementations, and he was living in a condominium property and was on the Board of Directors. His experience on that board made him realize the need for a company that could make condo management more efficient – so he decided to combine his experience in project management, software, and condo management, and he created that company himself. Wilkar officially commenced in 2006. Maia joined the team in 2007 as Michael’s first employee. Over the years since, Maia has seen the company grow rapidly in terms of both their client base and their inhouse capabilities. Today, they manage roughly 78 buildings with a total portfolio value of $3 billion. Their service offering include emergency water damage mitigation, reconstruction following damages, capital project management and a variety of in house maintenance and superintendent services – all of which are services they manage under their own banner, unlike most other property management companies, who APRIL 2023
