EmcoWaterworks Interior does, however. At any given time, Jeff estimates they have about 40 to 50 active projects on the go, and they will submit proposals for 700 to 800 projects per year. Moving forward, Jeff says the goal is to keep that momentum going. Emco is already the market leader for the interior of BC, and they want to sustain that position. However, Jeff claims the bigger priority is getting better, both as a service provider and as an employer. “My key metrics for success have never been sales ormarket share,” he explains. “For me, it’s always been about the culture of the business. It’s about ‘Are we doing right by our people?’ ‘Are our teammates continuing to improve?’ I’ve always believed that if you can get that right, the business success will come. So far, I’ve been proven correct.” Lastly, Jeff says that while they continue growing, they have to grow with the right customers. He says their clients need to share their values, just as their teammates do. “We want to align ourselves with customers who believe in the same things we believe in,” he says. “We want to work with customers who believe in straight talk, fairness and caring, trust and respect, and generous listening – which are Emco’s Core Values.” “So those are the kind of customers we’re after,” he concludes, “and once we get them, we want to make sure we’re using every tool in our chest to make sure they receive the best customer service possible.” SEPTEMBER 2022
