That data is valuable, Ewan explains, because it gives them better and clearer insight into the business. They then use that insight to be as costcompetitive as they can without compromising on quality. “When you think about some of the value-added things we do, they cost more money – but we don’t want to pass those costs on to our customers. So we have to find ways to be more efficient in the way that we run our business. By having a sophisticated back office that leverages technology and creates data, we’re able to do that.” “The real goal is not technology for the sake of technology,” he says. “It’s about making the business much more efficient. It’s about finding cost-savings and efficiencies as we go. That’s what matters to us.” Moving forward, Sunrise’s goal is to continue finding those efficiencies and to continue using technology to get better. According to Arthur, continuous improvement ismore important to him than growth. “We don’t plan to become a huge company,” he says. “Our goal right now is to keep doing the kind of projects we’re doing, and we want to do more projects for clients. We believe there are a lot of developers out there that could benefit from our experience and expertise. We want to help those people.” Looking to the longer-term, Ewan adds that if market conditions change – if the real estate industry becomes more stable, and if inflation gets under control – then the company would be more open to getting bigger.
