At the same time, Meerholz also does a lot of crane modernizations. By taking advantage of the latest in technological advances, they can upgrade and modify their clients’ existing cranes to better meet their production demands and increase their equipment life. Their speciallytrained technicians can perform structural, electrical and mechanical modifications that can increase a crane’s reliability and performance, and save clients the expense of purchasing a replacement. Modernizations may include upgrades to capacity, load and speed, lifting height, and classification. Examples of modernizations include: advanced crane control methods; better positioning systems; increase capacity; converting manual operations to motor control; realigning runway beams; adding radio control; adding variable frequency drive speed control; increasing or decreasing span of cranes; and rewiring of cranes. In recent years, Meerholz has also done a lot of designing, engineering, and building of new cranes.
