Designing with a purpose Rami Bebawi and Tudor Radulescu originally met at McGill University, where they both studied architecture, and from where they both graduated in 2000. After school, Rami worked a few years in the construction industry while Tudorworked inanarchitectural firm that specialized in healthcare. On the side, they occasionally teamed up to enter architectural competitions, and after winning a few mandates, they realized the potential of their partnership. In 2003, they officially partnered up and founded their own firm. Almost 20 years later, KANVA is a multi-award-winning company with a long list of high-profile and award-winning projects in their portfolio. These days, they take on a variety of different projects in a variety of sectors – “big and small, permanent and ephemeral,” Rami says – but what they all have in common is “a clear purpose.” “We have a few criteria when NOVEMBER 2022
