The commercial sector is where they see most of their future growth, according to Neil. To facilitate that growth, they recently brought in two new estimators with high levels of experience and comfort with steel-stud building and commercial towers. No matter the sector or project value, however, Neil believes clients now choose Ascent for the same reasons – “we’re trustworthy and predictable.” That includes being predictable in terms of pricing, he elaborates: “We commit to a price. We commit to an hourly rate. We have our suppliers commit to material prices as long as the project remains on schedule. So we’re extremely predictable in what people are going to pay. We don’t try to make our money based on change orders.” “We’ll also do everything we can to help people get through a problem,” he adds. “It doesn’t matter whether they make a mistake or we make a mistake – once a mistake is made, that’s when we can really show how great we are as partners. We embrace those opportunities. That’s when we can really step up and show that we can be trusted.” Ascent also makes sure to “document the hell out of everything,” Neil says.
