other companies and realized he had a passion for it. At the time, M.D Steele had recently completed some high profile bridge contracts and they were building a reputation in that sector, and Richard wanted to be a part of it. “I liked the company, I liked what the company was doing, and it didn’t take me very long to get settled in here,” Richard recalls. “I realized pretty quickly that I had made a very, very good decision.” Richard joined M.D. Steele as a project manager and estimator, he became vice president in 2017, and he was appointed president late in 2018. Since then, he has continued to promote and enforce the company’s founding values, while also seeking to operationally improve the business and get the word out about their capabilities. “In the last year, we have actually done a total brand refresh,” he explains. “We have a new website, a new logo. That’s something we’ve never really done before. We’ve always sort of flown under the radar.” “One of the things we’ve recognized over the last couple years, however, is that while we’ve been so successful in the bridge market, but we’ve inadvertently neglected the ICI market. So we want to try to re-establish ourselves in that ICI market. We want to get our information out there. We want to remind people that we’re still around.
