Emphasizing efficiency All aspects of the Drayton Valley Brazeau Aquatic Centre are being designed with energy efficiency in mind. When it comes to energy optimization, the goal is to meet or exceed the guidelines of the 2017 National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB). Contractors will be using sustainable materials, finishes and construction techniques, and both energy saving and water saving techniques wherever possible, from roof to footings. The roof will hold a 300-kilowatt photovoltaic system that will provide solar energy to the building, and the building envelope has been upgraded with a thermally broken curtain wall system. The windows will be a combination of double glazed low E Argon filled units and Kalwall high performance translucent panels, and all basins, showers, water closets, sinks, and toilets will utilize low flow technology. Continuous gutters and surge tanks will alleviate water waste THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
